The new season kicked off full of promise for the Brews after some impressive pre-season performances, but with several key players missing from both squads, both teams took a pounding from respective Bromley Green sides. The Firsts were in self destruct mode, after being the better side for most of the first half, they simply gifted Bromley Green three goals and fell apart, looking a very disjointed outfit. In fact they have to thank keeper Ben Light that the score was kept down to four as he was forced to make several fine saves. New signing Chris Gillem was the Brews Man of the Match with an energetic display and with no game this coming Sunday, the Brews will have time to reflect and sort themselves out before entertaining Bethersden at home on September 20th. They should also by then have at least 3 or 4 of the missing players available.
The Seconds were also woefully short of their full strength side and without the injured top scorer, Danny Trapp and strike partner, Simon Bourne, they were always going to struggle against a Bromley Green side who only just missed out on promotion last season. Like the Firsts, the Seconds will welcome back several of their missing players this Sunday when they play Fox Sunday at home and will look for an improved display. |
